Iris Aweil, South Sudan

A new phase began a few days ago in the life of Iris Ministries South Sudan when Team Aweil headed by long-term Iris missionary Carolyn Figlioli left Iris Yei Children's Village YCV to set up the new Iris Aweil base. Carolyn has visited Aweil several times to connect and arrange the renting of a compound. So many times we have seen God's goodness in these visits and now they are there.

Currently on Carolyn's team are Angela Walker from England; and Eric & Emily Pearson from USA. They will primarily be ministering to the street-boys of Aweil. Aweil is way up the north of South Sudan not too far from the troubled border area with the north of Abyei. Aweil has some lovely tarmac roads in town, but not much else going for it from my understanding. Life is going to be hard there, but I sense it will be very rewarding.

The team set off at 8am on Thursday 7th February to journey by taxi to our capital city, Juba where they took a night's rest before flying to Aweil about 8am Friday morning. All there furniture, solar equipment, Carolyn's new Xing Xiyang (3-wheeler motorcycle/truck) etc were loaded on a lorry. The lorry and two drivers accompanied by pastor John Sebit also set off at the same time to drive the 3-day journey to Aweil.

Here at YCV we are praying for you Team Aweil.
