My journey by taxi from Arua, Uganda to Yei, South Sudan

A taxi slid off the best part of the road. This is part of the new road being built from Arua to the SS border. Started end of January, but every time it rains they have to go back and staet again. If only they would build a mile at a time and get the tarmac on; the road might have been finished soon. They planned for over three years, so presumably it has to take three years

Lorries on and off the road leading down to the Aruba/Kaya border post. The car on the right is struggling trying to bypass. I walked to the border and did emi & immigration then waited an hour for the car to get through the jam

Another few km and trouble ahead

One young man objected to me taking this photo of 'him'; I said it's of the road. Whenever a vehicle goes off the road they dig up the road to get the vehicle moving again, so the road gets worse. These guys are starting to dig a bypass on the left.

The blue lorry is trying to tow another lorry from the ditch. We managed to get through . Our taxi took a glancing blow from a stationary lorry as we worked our way through, but we carried on.
