Safari has started preparing a plot of land that is outside our compound fencing. He has planted our first greens to be grown for the Iris kitchen in the dry season; and sown some vegetable seeds that I brought from the UK. On Thursday we are doing a 60-mile round trip to Safari's home village anticipating that we will be able to bring some banana trees back to plant alongside the vegatable garden that will become boggy in the wet season. You may be able to see in the photos that the boys are digging a deep trench to get water for the seedlings.
